additional character 1
Auna (pronounced "ON-UH") is a powerless street urchin. She lived with her parents until she was five. They worked as researchers for a group seeking to replicate Dr. Francis's miracle drug. Her parents went off to work and did not return. With time her food ran low and she was eventually ran from her home by other street people claiming her home as a new shelter. Now at 23 she is an experienced street person with the ability to survive on her own. However all the stresses of her life has lead her to a very common form of escape in the new worlds, Haze. Haze is a very simple yet potent street drug made from the residue of a boiled down metal bonding agent that was used to create the colossal towers in the cities. The continuous use of Haze leaves her in a near constant stupor and the only time she finds herself coherent is when she seeks a way to get more Haze. When lucid however she is unpredictable and unstable however clever.
The Genesis
Dr. Anton Francis is the doctor who first found a way to manufacture and sell the drug that instilled the super human abilities in formerly common people. The drug itself came from the blood of a now extinct animal discovered in 1942. Many years ago (at least 4 generations) the Dr. disappeared along with all information regarding the creation, origin, or ingredients to the drug. Since his disappearance the drug has proven impossible to duplicate and so no new shots are possible.
The Hero or so is suggested...
Alex Cropper is the main hero. He is a standard person in regards to what we as readers would imagine in our current day and age. He is in no way dumb but also no smarter then the average male. He is 5'11" with brown hair, both ears pierced, generally wears jeans and a simple black hoodie. He has 2 distinguishing features: a tattoo on his neck marking him as a powerless individual, and a large scar above his left knee from a fall earlier in his life. He lives on the streets generally in doors during the day and does most of his moving during the night.

The Layout of the World
Though the year is 2413 the world would hardly be distinguishable (in regards to technology) from the world we live in today. After the invention of the "Boost" drug most people became lazy and scientific pursuit became a joke. Why progress technology when you yourself are already above it? Some key differences would be the large amounts of graffiti, unkempt streets, and the towering buildings (taller even then what the world contains today). The invention of "Boost" gave not only the recipient of the shot super powers but those later in there bloodline. As a result generations after the invention of the drug many more people have it then people without. Those who have it typically bully, beat, and generally harass those born without any type of ability.
In the year 2413 however things have begun to change. Legions, sores, and blemishes have begun to plague the bodies of all that have powers. They don’t die, it doesn’t affect there powers, for now it simply seems to make monsters of the people with powers, for now. As a result many people have begun to draw conclusions and mobs of those with powers have increased attacks on those without them, believing there plague to be manufactured by the powerless out of jealousy.

The Cream Rises To The Top
So I named this blog "Bottom of the Barrel" because its really where I feel I am at. My name is Murris and I have been enjoying science and fantasy fiction in several different formats for years. The issue however for me has always been that every story always has a super hero or some sort of entity that is overtly unique and over powered in comparison to all others within the story. I know the idea of of fiction writing is to be able to do anything disregarding the real worlds limitations but at the same time I find that it seems unlikely even in a fantasy world that there would be just the on hero, the unique power and nobody else can compare. So this is where it starts.
I have been mulling it over in my head for some time and have occasionally jotted down interesting thoughts and notes and have come to the conclusion that if I want a story a certain way then perhaps the best way to achieve that is to simply write it myself. Lately I have been reading a lot of comic books. A media format with a direct approach to information as well as solid images to drive home emotion and meaning seemed right up my alley. So with the artistic abilities of my good friend Evan I have set out to design my own comic and craft my own story of a hero in a world where he is not all powerful, where he isn't unique and has no distinct advantage. These conditions will allow the character to develop a rich back story while also allowing the readers to continue to relate to the hero throughout the entire epic.
As myself and Evan write it will be posted her not only as a storage medium but in hopes that people might leave there notes and thoughts. If the idea is to make a more human and less godly hero then who better to help design then the common man. So if you read and enjoy and even if you don't please let us know why either way.
I am hoping Evan will post for himself soon so he can give you his background.
